I should never have put that statement in writing, as Karma swung around and hit me in the face this morning:
My son was dinking with his ultra classic Colin Laing road bike, adorned with not only venerable 531 tubing but also the finest Suntour had to offer in the early eighties.
After a while he proudly presents the result of the tinkering: removal of the lusciously curved 3T bars and installation of a BLACK (!!) set of Nashbar DOUBLE GROOVED (!!!) ERGO bars, obscenely wide for the nimble 50cm frame, and sporting those mis-shaped knuckles on the drops.
It looks so hideous that I can't yet get myself to photograph it for you to see, and all the while I have to be positive and full of praise for an eleven year old's first bar change and tape wrap....
