Comparing the motobecane cafe sprint to a typical hybrid like a trek 7.2 fx is like comparing apples and oranges.
Maybe you didn't realy check the specifics of the motobecane, but it has a 12-26 9-speed cassette, a 52 teeth crank and a carbon fork.
Those parts will make it a lot more racy than any low-end trek fx like the 7.2.
To the OP: it all depends on what YOU like.
Do you like to ride at high speeds for long distances or are you a basic commuter doing an average of 12 mph?
We cannot answer these questions for you, but the motobecane does seem like a nice speedy hybrid to me, especially for that price.
