It is the beer and the food intake.

I went from 210 to 163 (56yo) and I don't drink but exceedingly rarely and never beer and I don't eat more than a hummingbird, no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (my manna from Heaven) or ice cream or Popeye's Fried Chicken or half and half with my coffee or donuts or candy bars or any of that. My wife counts my calories per Weight Watchers and I swim three to five miles a week and I cycle around 75 a week, sometimes more or less depending on weather etc.

If more calories go in than you burn in a day, then you gain weight, if it is less, then you loose weight, you can science, anecdotal, over analyze and rationalize all you want, it really is just that simple.

Yesterday, a good example for me, I did the Y Master's Swim club, swam 2,500 yards, came home, road my bike 20 miles. I ate one glass orange juice for bf, one granola bar for lunch and one hamburger for dinner with an apple and tea for the entire day. Today I plan a 30 mile ride after work, I have not had anything today yet but an orange juice.

No pain then no gain, no hunger then no loss.
