cycling is a sport supported entirely by sponsorship. both the teams and the sponsors get a fee for every jersey sold. moreover, sales of replica jerseys get greater exposure for the sponsors, making their investment in the sport worthwhile and encouraging the continued sponsor investment in the sport.

wearing a pro team jersey thus actually supports cycling. personally, i don't have any pro jerseys, but i would wear them if i did.
