My baselayers these days are blue or black in wool or polypro. My jerseys are all sorts of colours (including white) in wool or coolmax. No bleeding. No messing up either the shorts or the jerseys ... and no messing up the regular clothes that might get tossed in with it all.

I have never had cycling clothes bleed colour ... and I don't look at cycling clothes as anything different from any other clothes I wear. Clothes are clothes. My cycling clothes are not spun from cobwebs under a full moon. They are not going to fall apart if they come in contact with work shirt, sweater, or pair of pants, and my work clothes are not going to dissolve if they come in contact with my cycling clothes.

If you're concerned about bleeding, wash your black cycling shorts with your black workpants, and your white jerseys with your white work shirts and underwear.
