Yeah i was thinking going for a bit higher pressure tire/tub combo. RIght now since i am way out of "proper biking shape" i have been adopting the "ride hard, ride as far as i can" mantra (with proper nutrition of course). I use 700x25 conti gp 4 seasons on my road bike and I weigh a good ten pounds more than you.
I also run wider tires at 75-85 psi and don't experience any of the problems you seem worried about...are you sure your gauge is correct?
IMO, you should have no problem running those tires at 80-85psi.
