An axle for ruining costs about $5. Well worth the investment if this thing works.

AEO - regarding slippage: since I have vertical drops, slippage will be fore and aft, so I'm hoping the wheel will not be popping out its home.

Further, my thinking is that the bike is not sitting on the axle rather the clamping force of the locknuts keeps the works together. The thoughts lead me to conclude that my wheel is no likelier to pop out with a clamped-down skewer than it is to pop out with a clamped down 10mm axle.

But I repeat, I have no idea, and I am asking the question because it seems workable and seems like it should be more popular.

Oh year, I ground a solid axle and I widened the drops, but I needed a bit more.
