I don't see how it's ambiguous, it says share the road not share the lane. If it said share the lane I could see a problem with it, but it doesn't. It says share the road, not share the lane. Yes, sadly probably the majority of motorists will interpret it to mean share the lane. Which is why we need more education for motorists and more PSA's, hell even one or two PSAs would be an improvement over what we have in many areas now.
