I'd modify that a bit. Keep the cheap Al frame. When you get the frame back, if you can afford it put a new group on the frame, or transfer the old parts to the repaired frame, and look for used parts to build up the AL frame (depending on budget)

And end up with a backup bike, which this thread points out the value of having.
