you bought used, 2nd hand goods and you inherit the risks inherent in that system.
If Sean were to agree to sending you a hub at landed cost, then good on him - but I certainly wouldn't expect it.
i'd say it is time for you to spend some money... sorry man - i know it sucks, I've been buying used gear ever since I started riding/racing, and it is disappointing when it breaks before I thought it would, but that is how it goes when buying used.
