Remember this - the guy on the $8000 bike next to you is gaining less than 1% of speed from all his lightweight aero stuff. Once you're on a current-gen intro-road bike, the only thing holding you back is you. I ride a Sora/2200 setup against road racers most of which ride $5k+ bikes and its definitely not holding me back.
