Anyhow, Sheldon tool always works for me. I use big wrenches and breaker bar so as to be able to apply ungodly amounts of torque. Hasn't failed me yet, have had things in service for years and years.

With proper manufacturing and torque, the French/Italian BB are reliable. The problem is that the design is less forgiving of less exacting installation rather than being an inherently defective design. Maybe a fine distinction, but that is the way I see it.
