FIRST, THIS IS NOT AN ADVOCACY & SAFETY THREAD. I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR WHY EVERYONE SHOULD WEAR A HELMET OR WHY IT'S YOUR RIGHT NOT TO WEAR ONE.
That said...I've decided it's about time I retire my old Bell helmet. This Bell Image helmet from the late 80s (or maybe 1990) may not have reached C&V status yet, but it's certainly old by today's standards. It's got a large piece of styrofoam missing above the left ear, and a couple of the inside pads went missing long ago, and it does not provide much in the way of ventilation.
This is an homage to a helmet which has served me well for a couple decades, but also a call out to all those who have some vintage helmets tucked away or even still in use. (I know I'm edging toward a slippery slope, but hopefully we can reminisce about vintage headgear without any safety diatribes--please direct those comments
here.) So, show me your leather hairnets, your early Giros, your Bailens, bump caps, and Bell Bikers.
