Many years ago I used to do a 100 miler. If I did it in 12 hours then I had a helping hand up the hills and strong tailwind. Then in 06 we had weather. 12 hours in and we had only done 65 miles. We pulled out as we were not going to finish in daylight and the thought of hauling that bike up one more muddy climb made us see sense.

Couple of weeks later and we got the 100 mile medallion in the post. This was an unusual ride and various lengths from various start points and we were apparantly the 20 th of the Century riders to get to 65 miles before abandoning. We were not the last to abandon that day either.
