Riding with a Roadie and the storm..
Well this is a pretty good story to tell.. My son and I set off for a 25 miler needed for
a merit badge for scouts. The weather conditions were isolated thunderstorms, but
that is normal for around here. A few miles into the ride, a Roadie passes us, but
being completive I want to draft with him. We catch up to him, and hang with him for
around 4 miles. Then the rode turns left or right, and we were going the other direction.
I noticed a old barn on the way, ( thinking of the storm ), so we start making the loops
needed for him to get the 25 miles in. Then the hail and lighting comes, we bolt for
that old barn, after about an hour of the storm, we decided to call the wife, cell
phone batters dead, LOL….so no help there ! About an hour and half of
storming to the max… We decided to ride home, in a drizzling rain, ( no lighting), our
average was 14 MPH….personnel best for the both of us… Richard
