Helmets are mandatory by law in my province so I don't hold it against any organized event i may choose to participate in for requiring them.(lucky for me, because many would probably require them even without an MHL, which could raise my ire.) Riding by myself, however, I choose to go helmetless about 95% of the time, in contravention of the law, and I will not apologize or make lame excuses to police officers for my choices if stopped. I believe it should be a personal choice, so that is how I act.
