Have not been riding my hybrid much for the past month as it was out on loan and returned with a stripped seat post bolt and the wrong saddle height which required some destructive removal (need a new clamp now)... was looking forward to taking it out this afternoon to rock some trails in the valley but will have to settle for my hardtail.
Have been racking up the miles this month and had ridden over 600 km in the first ten days with most of those rides being no less than 55km and the longest was 160km.
Used to ride as much as 16,000 km a year and then injured my back and had to start all over again... those first rides were a just a few km and by this June was averaging 40km a day which got me in good enough shape to tackle longer rides.
Am planning on more longer rides and will take the hybrid on a few of those as one of my riding mates is also riding a hybrid and it is always nice to match bikes / gearing with the folks you ride with.
The ability to ride long distances comes from putting in the base miles and working yourself up to doing longer and longer distances and it is nice when you realize you are capable of riding 50, 70, or 100 miles.
I have to be able to do this on one good leg as my other one is not always reliable.
