I'm getting the impression that you can't really ride in W. Oregon or W. Washington (especially Washington) without running into nasty hills. Unless you hug the river, I guess. Any time I try to make an off-highway route over 20 miles it ends up going straight up the side of a wall!
Yep, the Seattle to Portland ride however has only 2000 feet of climbing over a 204 mile route. I live 500 feet above sea level and virtually every ride I do takes me down to sea level, so with the hills I often climb over 1000 feet on a 25 mile ride.
