Lot of assumptions by the AC haters here. They assume AC immediately knew as he passed AS that AS had a major mechanical. So even assuming that somehow AC is clairvoyant and knew conclusively that AS had thrown his chain, (even though at the time AC had mounted a counterattack just a few seconds BEFORE AS even had the mechanical) since when has anyone ever stopped for someone who drops his chain? Whats next, he misses a shift and he's in the wrong gear and now you have to stop the race for him? I don't think so.
