You need "Aussie" specific helmets with ventilation emphasis up top.
They're thin lycra and you can tie them to the back of your helmet rather than have it go all the way around - not really an issue (other than the potential to look like more of a dork!)

Works quite well - you can't (or rather you're not supposed to) draft guys from a different grade and you and the officials have a clear view of who is in what grade.

This way, for summer crits you only need traffic management (and all the officials etc) for 1-2 hours, it costs only $10 to race and the fields can be small (they had 5 guys in a 70km road race for D grade last week! - the prize money exceeded their combined fees!)
