Actually - re. chain skate:
When I set up my Ciocc, the Regina 6 in the rear appeared to be in great shape, but I got a ton of skate across the middle cogs. I switched to a different Regina - problem gone. However - I would first throw on a new chain - just a cheap Z chain would be fine, see if that works before you resort to the cost and labor of freewheel replacement!
