If we're not having our chains yanked here (and I hope we are...I've been in your shoes but with an old girlfriend...and it was a couch, not a pool table...sucks ).

Go modern with new 105 in silver but...

1) Use DA 10spd DT shifters
2) Use a 5500-series crankset (although that means you'll need an Octalink BB) to look a little more period (modern Shimano crankets are alien parts or something).
3) Use the modern BL-R600 brake levers.

Modern yet classic looking.
