The fact is you should always determine a maximum bid amount you are willing to make for any auction, and not get sucked into bidding wars. Most of the time, another item will be listed later on that is just as good or better, and if you are patient you can get a good deal on just about anything. There's a lot of good stuff to be found on eBay, but also a lot of overpriced crap and outright fraud. Caveat emptor.
