What you want are Beach Cruiser bars. You'll drop about 3 pounds from that setup you've got going there and add a ton of safety.

At minimum, put some plugs in those 6 open bar ends. Aside from just being a way to hold the end of your bartape on a road bike, bar plugs are a safety precaution so that if you wreck, the bars don't act as a hole punch if you land on the end of it.
