Its a tough call. You probably WOULD be better off having a genuine American market helmet because if you want to race you wont be allowed to wear this helmet. I am concerned that the straps look a little simple to me. The straps on the older model looked a little more sophisticated.

It could well be a fake.

Are you prepared to dump it on the people you bought it off?

I don't know what guarantee you have of getting a replacement helmet but you would be better off swapping.
