They probably changed contractors in China. Few companies manufacture anything anymore, instead they determine a specification and contract it out to a jobber in China, India, Bangladesh or Pakistan, or some other slave labour camp, a change of contractor can result in wildly different sizes, even though two items look identical and have the same labels, and are indicated as the same size, they are different sizes.
