In my school, when I was in Grade Four, we had a bicycle class. For several weeks we were taught about bicycles, about bicycle handling, and about the rules of the road. Not only was I taught to stop at red lights (which I already knew), but I was taught how to ride like vehicle of the road ... on the road, and
with traffic.
That class was not only beneficial for cycling purposes, it also gave me a good foundation when I went for my learner's licence 5 years later ... that's how in-depth it was on the rules of the road.
