Police say pedestrians are a problem. Cyclists, OK.
You can always use the well known FARS study (although the websites that I've seen it on don't mention pedestrians, but do mention cars)
# of fatalities per 1,000,000 exposure hrs.
Living (all causes of death) 1.53
Swimming 1.07
Passenger cars .47
Bicycling .26
The more important figure for me would be # of fatalities per exposure MILE - especially for those using bicycles as replacement vehicles for cars.
