Very nice. I can tell that I'll like this bike... Now, here are my concerns/questions:
Since the last roadie was my first (switch from MTB), it was all such a drastic change, I just assumed everything was due to the transition. Today, however, things were different that I know are the bike...
1. My AVS was down at least 1mph. I usually average high 16's, low 17's cruising. Today, I felt like I worked harder and I came in with high 15's. The cranks are 175's compared to 170's on my last bike and the frame is 2cm longer, though my leg extension (after a mid-ride saddle adjustment) is about the same. What might cause the harder effort and lower AVS? Just muscles needing to get used to the differences in geometry...?
2. I don't like the triple. I'll see if the LBS will change out for a double tomorrow, but if not and I buy one from Performance, can I just get anything that's Shimano 105 compatible and then just monkey with the high/low screws so the derailleur stays right? I didn't like being in the middle up front and largest in the rear. Chain angle was a bit alarming...
3. The bike seemed less responsive than my last one. Both are aluminum, but the 1500 has a larger tubes, so could this result in a more rigid bike? Maybe the rims are less responsive? The "response" test was when I tried to whip around a rock and found my dodge wasn't as quick or sharp as the old Trek.
4. Does the difference between 170 and 175 make that much difference? Could that be a reason for #1?
TIA for all the comments on my first thread. I like this one and I'll keep it. now I just gotta get the kinks worked out.
PS Three things that went a long way to making the bike look more like it was mine: cages, aeros and cyclo. When I put thse three things on, it started to look like my old bike, just newer
