I have the bike part down, and I getting out and running. I did a 1.3 mile "run" (it was a jog) this evening without stopping. That is a major accomplishment for me because I have not ran that much in the past 10 years. I felt like I could do more though so thats encouraging to me.
Now for the part that I am concerned about, swimming. I am not a strong swimmer, I really dont care to swim honestly. Is there anything I should do to get comfortable in the water? The option that I really have to train for the swimming portion is in the river. The local pool is filled with kids till closing and the Lap swimming time is while I am working.
I hate to burst your bubble but if you can't swim and are not comfortable with the water, you should not do the tri. September 19 is less than two months away and not enough time for you to be able to swim that distance. It is nearly a half mile which will seem like ten miles if you are struggling. If you want to do a tri and don't want to put in the swim work, I suggest you do a sprint with a 400 meter swim which may be easier on your body.
