Yeah, 10 minutes isn't much time.
Anyway, as far as derailleurs how much do you want to spend? Shimano Deore is a nice derailleur for the money. Personally I don't like going below Deore LX though. After that you have XT and XTR. I just switched over to SRAM X.0 and I love it. SRAM X7 and X9 are great too.
