Ok try this, this is how I learned to do fakies on BMX. Just push backwards off the ground with your feet off the pedals holding out for balance. Eventually you will get the balancing part down and will be able to move onto pedaling backwards. I know it sounds too simple but thats how I learned fakies.

All those tricks in Quicksilver were flatland guys by the way.
