I do that like once a year when I'm feeling ambitious. When I do the Nyack Ride I typically just drive to the bike shop in Piermont and do the 50 mile loop with them. But I wanted the miles today. Managed to hang with those boys until 9W, but that ride was shattered. There was a break of like 10 guys that we were never going to see again, another group of 5 chasing them, then the bunch. I was in the bunch. Hell, my goal today was just to be close enough to hit somebody in the back of the head with a Frisbee by the time we got to the top of Scratchup (that's about 3-4 mles from the end). That's where I went north and they turned south.

I'm 52 by the way. 53 in November. Hell, there's a guy on that ride who's fitter than me and he's friggin 60. Racing. Who the hell am I going to race? They're all faster than me now. Besides, I've been racing on and off for 20 friggin years. What did I ever get? A bunch of $25 prizes and a little plastic trophy. God what a dumb sport.

I do this to stay skinny and sane. Hey, one out of two ain't bad.

The more miles I ride, the happier I am. And I don't know why.
