Very true. When I was a kid, I used to ride centuries on my Schwinn Continental. I didn't know any different. Lets face it, a vintage frame converted to FG makes a pretty good looking bike. And even a porker like the Continental can shed a lot of weight going FG. As long as people don't take a grinder to them, and rattle can them, I think it is a plus for vintage bikes. First, there were millions of vintage bikes build during the boom, so we aren't running out. And if it keeps a bike on the road, and out of the landfill, great! And it has created a market for bottom end boom bikes.
