Frankly, as a dealer, I would love to see Trek offer to repaint the frame at no charge. The people-pleaser in me likes it when things like that happen. But the reality is that the finish failed years after the warranty expired.
To give credit, the fine folks at City Bike Works really plead my case with the local Trek rep, and when that didn't work, they sent it to Waterloo for inspection. Which is one of the reasons I send lots of business their way, especially when it's someone just starting out.
