Frames are likely the same, but the 7.2 has a steel fork and the 7.3 has an aluminum one. Same hubs, but different rims. 35mm tires on the 7.2; 32mm on the 7.3. Most components are also different. This is all per Trek's site.
BUT, I won't disagree. The 7.2 seems just fine, and the 7.3 is only a small step up. Agree on resale comment, too.
I'd love to hear someone with experience compare these two forks for ride quality.
