Clamp on style cable stops

Typically when you get an old cheap road (or others sometimes) cycle with stem shifters, you'll get a cable stop on the downtube as the bikes typically won't have any braze ons, and you'll notice the cable routing is usually around the middle on the sides, I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a clamp on cable stop with the stops more on the bottom so your cables aren't running down the middle of your downtube to where it will route next (either above or below the BB), does such a thing exist? I have afew old frames with no braze ons the downtube and I prefer to run bar end as apposed to downtube gear changers, and always sorta found the cables running like that weren't all that eye pleasing. I have only seen the suntour and shimano cable stop variant in the flesh, ive seen photos of at least one campagnolo style which seems more or less the same.
