damn some of you guys in here are harsh lol let a lone citing cases and articles to prove your points.

i've rode nyc for many years and never once have I ever been given a ticket. I've only been warned once for not obeying the '12mph' bicycle speed limit in central park and running a red light on the loop at 8am on a saturday morning. It was an incident I admit, but nothing clear of a $270 ticket. If I had seen the ticket while he wrote it and the amount I was getting charged, I would have asked the police officer to explain the $270 or ask if going green meant this $270 would be tax deductible.

Then proceed to hand him my PBA card lol. There has to be some extent of leniency when it comes to an over populated city where riding a bicycle warrants removing city streets to make way for MUPS. If we're encouraged to ride bicycles more, then we shouldn't be microscoped into a new set of laws which the city could continue to reap tax money from, albeit it easier for a cop to chase down a cyclist then say a run away in a car.
