I do lift for more power (lower reps) sometimes and haven't really had any problems. I am only 19 though that probably has some factor in me not having any injuries with it. I usually start doing a few really light reps to stretch out and loosen up. Then maybe 2 sets and 12 reps and 2 sets and 4-6 reps.
How many times in cycling are you going to do under 10 rotations of your crankset at even your highest power and effort?
