On my randonnees, when I've got to eat 5000 or more calories, I get very tired of eating very quickly, and wish I could just stop eating but keep cycling. I usually have to switch to Ensure just to be able to get the calories down. So, for kuf, who seems to think that eating whatever I want means packing away an absolutely massive number of calories, I'll clarify that I could eat an average of 2500-3000 calories per day ... which was the upper limit of what I wanted to eat, and with the amount of exercise I was doing, I had trouble maintaining my weight within normal weight ranges.
Maybe you can't magine it, but plenty of Americans can. I hear Australia is getting pretty bad too. Check how many calories are in a Big Mac or similar monstrosity. Point is, for many people, "whatever I want" is a lot more than they should be eating. So you had no trouble, but obviously many people do.
