You don't have to look very hard. The idea that cyclists are simply at the mercy of drivers who choose to turn right at intersections is absurd.

You can avoid getting right hooked at intersections if you are simply aware of the risk, and are prepared for it.

And my comments are not meant to be ugly, but to dispell the notion that you can't drastically reduce your chance of getting right hooked with some vigilance.

In over 40 years of riding a bike, I've had drivers turn right immediately in front of me a number of times, and I've never gone down. The reason being was that I knew that they might, and was prepared to either stop behind them, or turn right with them.

These type of accidents are in large measure avoidable.
