Sometimes passing cars stopped at a light by riding on the shoulder is illegal. Someone told me this a little while ago. The turning right bit (if right turn on red is allowed) makes it more gray.
There are three times I'd have considered doing something like calling 911 when cars cut me off.
1. Car pulls up next to me while I'm going 30 mph then turns right. Car turned in when our front wheels were even. I bounced off the car but stayed upright. Driver 'thought' that they'd passed me. Car behind this driver? A police car. He left without stopping, in fact he peeled out around us.
2. Red light. I was there first, only vehicle at the light (I'd just missed the green). Car pulls up next to me. Light turns green. Car turns into me when I'm next to it. Elbow hooked sideview mirror. My leg (with tons of heat rub on it) smeared all the day down the side of the car.
3. Oncoming car turned left across my path. I was going about 10 mph. I lifted the rear wheel at impact so it wouldn't fold, but the hit flipped bike like 90 deg or something. Stayed upright.
In all of these incidents I wasn't hurt seriously, bike was okay.
In your case, if you don't know if there's anything wrong with you, you're probably fine (no headaches, neck pain, broken bones, etc). Chalk it up to a learning experience and move on.
Your bike is probably fine too, but if you don't know how to check it out, I'd have a shop check it out. I figure if they glance over it (like I would if I had just fallen and I wanted to see if I could ride the bike home), it'll probably be free. If they charge you then they become liable.
