Again, no pics, but...
- I attended a presentation by Albert Eisentraut at a shop in Seattle, shook his hand and got his autograph on the cover of the BG mag that featured him
- When Phil Anderson (now-retired Australian pro cyclist who was riding for Peugeot at the time) was wintering in Seattle, did a bunch of Sunday training rides with him
- Changed Jock (aka Jonathan) Boyer's rear wheel in a road race in Redmond WA. He was riding for 7-11 at the time, and I was lead neutral support mechanic
- When he's not in europe, Chris Horner lives in Sunriver, about 15 miles south of here. I've seen him out riding several times.
- My #1 son got Lance Armstrong's autograph the year BEFORE Lance's first TdF victory. (Does that make it extra valuable?)
- My #1 son picked up a Motorola cycling team warmup jacket (at a local consignment store) that had belonged to Steve Larsen during his tenure with Motorola. When Steve was racing the Cascade Cycling Classic a year or two later, Reid got Steve's autograph on the jacket. Now that Steve's gone (died of a heart attack while running a year or two back), it's a little more special.
- On vacation a few years back, I was riding (more like struggling) up a mountain pass south of Glenwood Springs, CO, and was passed by one of the Grewal brothers (Alexi, I think). He stopped and talked to my entourage (wife & #2 son) at the summit and told them that that pass was higher than anything in that year's Tour de France. By the time I reached the summit, he'd already gone down the other side and come back up. We traded high fives as he pedaled by.
