Well obviously, when the 3000 pound steel box hits you, the 15 pound fairing magically increases in mass so that the rider is not thrown 30 feet. And I think it forms a protective force field around the rider as well so that when their head hits the ground, they don't get a concussion.
hotbike, what is your data that indicates that fairings help in crashes? Just a feeling? how many crashes have you collected data from? What kind of crashes? Rear end, front end, sideswipe, t-bone, single-vehicle wipeouts, tires caught in potholes, etc?
