I honestly don't think this is a good idea. Two or three Chicago policemen have been killed recently when they confronted people while off duty. I think all three were in uniform, one had his gun stolen and used as the murder weapon. It's an awful shame, words cannot suffice, but if trained officers can be killed in a confrontation, why risk it? These guys were pretty experienced with thugs, though one had been on desk duty in recent years his desk job was training other officers in how to handle the situation that got him killed.
