that's not it at all. people like different types of riding. i have a whole bunch of 40 miles route but i just don't like these routes as much. I don't like rushing round a route as much as I like longer more relaxed rides. similarly I never liked sprint events in running. maybe my muscle make up.
funny thing happens to me. Every time I go out for a ride, I tell myself, "Just go slow and don't worry about avg mph.". Every time, I start seeing the avg mph get slower, I can't help but try to raise it up to a minimum I've set in my mind.
I love going on bike rides with my wife and son because I don't have to worry about mph. I can relax and just "ride".
