Well I like a lot of other people said what the heck, and got a handlebar holder with the purchase of my Park Stand. I just set it on top without strapping it down - that's completely unnecessary. Just setting it up top without tensioning it down also keeps my cables moving freely along the top tube. There's a protective rubber coating on it, so no problem with scratching the paint. But I cringe when I hear DIYers talk about making the same device with a hanger... ouch. Now you're heading towards scratches for sure.
