Yeah, there's more than one way, obviously. I started doing mostly road bike training for track, but when I got a brake for my track bike and some clincher training wheels, I found that doing track-type efforts on my track bike was better for me. Same bike, so same position. Road bike has wider, higher bars, longer cranks. I use trad clips and straps on the track too, so that means my road bike uses different shoes/pedals. For me, the road bike is just a little too different, and I feel I get a better track-type workout on the track bike. But yeah, different strokes. We all have to experiment to find what works best for us.
