I found when I upgraded to a computer w/cadence that I confirmed what I already knew... by counting my pedal strokes for 15 or 30 seconds while holding a cadence I could figure it out. For 1-2 years, I'd finish rides, look at Average Cadence and it was ALWAYS between 80 and 85...max was typically in the 115 range. I got a second bike, installed a "second bike" kit for the same computer so I could use the same head unit but didn't get cadence, figuring if I wanted it, I could just move the sender over from my first bike. The cadence sensor is still on the first bike.
