EKW in DC, I've ridden the entire Canal at least 4 times now, it's a great trip: scenic, assesible, easy, enjoy it, I'll be following along in your journal.

Lucked out (and didn't) on Thursdsay of last week. My ride ended with another flat tire at the rugby fields, north of the airport. While the heat wasn't as bad as expected, I was trying to outrun the storm that was bearing down on Alexandria. I've been nursing a strained right knee and was unable to really push. While changing my tube, the pump broke and, seeing the dark columns of storm clouds heading my way, I decided to bail and ask a cabbie for a ride home. While I was frustrated that another ride ended with a flat (more than I can count this year) at least I was nice and dry in the back of the cab as the worst of the storm hit. My trip was delayed by downed trees and power lines but, I was grateful that I wasn't on the bike since many of these trees/lines were along routes that I would have been on at that time. The neighborhood suffered a lot of damage but, we were lucky enough to be without power for exactly 24 hours-some weren't as lucky.

Also, on Friday, after picking up my wife and son, we returned home to see some curbside freebies, stuff removed from a leaky basement. One of which was a vintage Trek road bike. I grabbed it up and am trying to figure out the model number/year, I think I'll restore it and turn it into my century bike-it's in great condition. Bonus.

Looking forward to a nice ride home today.
